Nightmare in daylight
If
souls could be captured
Kept in the safe custody of cages
Nursed to grow with hearts
What a powerful nation
What a formidable force
That street children of the world is
Thrown to the cold streets
Without mercy or remorse
As the lust of the flesh turns sour
Partners crawling at each other
Like the cruel wild cats
Affections turning to afflictions
The children rocked with fear
Jumping for asylum in the dirty streets
Full of vice and virulence
The street children of Arusha
Like the “chokoraa” of Nairobi
A nightmare in the daylight
In the cities of the world
Now a force to reckon with
Participating in revolution!
The street souls
Bragging and begging
With tormenting stares and piecing eyes
But souls all the same
Bleeding with pain and hatred
But growing in height and muscle
To a formidable force of vengeance
That will rock Arusha to her knees
With this slumber and complacency
The Street children of Arusha
A curse and a blessing
Their souls part of our souls
Their dreams inseparably our dreams
Their nightmares ultimately
