Treated like trash

The crawling Africa
Creeping in pace and front
Downtrodden for centuries and time
Exploited not only in blood and gold
But in credibility and mantle
Devoured like a carcass by vultures
The birds of strong peak and claws
With grip so hard and piecing

The crawling Africa
Used for free in centuries
With soldiers of repute in wars
But relegated to oblivion and shame
phased to periphery like trash
like the ocean tides and filth

The crawling Africa
Without voice in the absence of the master
The continent shaking in violence and fear
Her riches squandered in daylight
Robbed of its virtue by tricks and intrigues
And now the casualty of globalization!

The crawling Africa
with such a potential
Awash with resources and inertia
But bogged down by greed
not only by the aliens
but brothers of blood and caste
now clad with the masters gown
Ruling in impunity and muscle

The crawling Africa
orphanage with the passage of time
with her heroes buried deep in soil
Lumumba who died in honour for Africa
but in pain and anguish
In the hands of brutal imperialists
With Nyerere,"the shining lamp put off"
A century gone for Africa

The crawling Africa
With Nelson Mandela the lone voice
Though of age and retirement
reminding us of Mkwawa and Mirambo
Shaka and Steve Biko our icons
the continent laments of their passage
As Africa wades in deep hostile waters
With the campus misplaced
and the captain in deep slumber
GOD HELP AFRICA
