Arusha teachers discover museums

“The farther back you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” This Winston Churchill’s dictum could be what made local teachers from Primary and Secondary schools here to gather at the Arusha Declaration Museum last week learning how to use historical records as teaching aids. But had they tried it before?

I teach at Engarenarok Tetra (Lutheran) Secondary School in Levolosi area.  I specialize in History and English subjects.

I have never even toured the Arusha Declaration Museum myself but after this training I will definitely give it a try.

I teach History and Geography at the Olkokola Primary School in Arusha-Rural District. It is located along the road to Ngaramtoni.

I have only visited a museum once and that was when still in primary school. I think it was back in 1994.  I am now thinking of introducing the idea of learning through museums to my students.

I teach at Kijenge Primary School in the municipality. I specialize in teaching  English, Kiswahili and General Knowledge.

To me this is a new experience as  I have never taken my students to any  museum but after  this seminar I  will  encourage my students  to visit museums.

Myself  I have  been  to museum premises  only to attend seminars and workshops.
