We are
going to be a very silly lot, if aliens are to be allowed to
infiltrate here and own land at our own expenses in the name of
the EAC. Let’s face it, ever since foreigners have been allowed
to own our minerals there have been no benefits to either the
country or ordinary people. It will be the same thing with land
once brought under community agenda.

I am not sure why the issue of Tanzania’s land should prop up in
EAC matters or discussions. I think some people have private
agendas against our country and its land.
If they indorse this idea of ‘regionalizing’ land under the EAC,
then Tanzania will cease to exist and all land will be in the
hands of foreigners as the local people get displaced by aliens
with cash to throw.

Tanzania should never allow other EAC member states to sway its
stand on matters regarding land. Other countries have already
seen ample land here and want to grab and hoard it under the
community pretense and eventually kick out rightful citizens.
Leaders need to look into this issue very carefully because
there is good chance that it will affect the community in a
negative way.

The land in Tanzania is not an East African Community issue thus
the idea of people from neighboring countries coming to own or
lease land here under the EAC umbrella should not be
entertained.
The community should stick to its own specified programmes and
projects. When it comes to land and natural resources each
country must take care of their own. We already have cases of
investors in Tanzania who reap more benefits from our resources
than the locals. We don’t want to repeat the same mistake under
EAC.
