Since 2004 PACT Tanzania has been conducting series of training
sessions on tracking funds being issued to orphans especially
those living in poor conditions. In Arusha we work in 24
districts catering for 3600 children.
PACT works with St. Lucia Arusha an organization which
provides seminars and other education al sessions to teachers,
we also work with religious groups and the ministry for social
welfare. We have discovered that problems facing orphans include
poor nutrition, lack of education and social stigma.

Here at Sanawari, we have been calling meetings to address
issues of children living under dangerous situations, formed a
special committee and established a bank account currently with
Tsh. 87,000.
We have also been getting donations from St. Lucia organization
of Moshono in terms of beddings, clothing, food and school
facilities for children.

I am an orphan, both my parents are dead. I live with my
grandmother and we depend on friends to survive. Fortunately, I
did well in Primary education and now I expect to join Secondary
School. We are glad to be invited to seminars like these for
they boost out self confidence.

In order to survive, that is to eat and at
least get school uniform, I am compelled to do odd jobs here and
there in the neighborhood but some good Samaritans and neighbors
offer some assistance as well.
I dont always get food promptly and I do trek a long distance
to school daily. All the same, I never give up hope and neither
should anybody regardless of his or her situation.
