To pupils of Olasiti primary school in the Arusha municipality there could not be a better way of starting 2009 than having desks to write on. The school has been experiencing an acute shortage of desks until when  the National Bank of Commerce, Arusha branch  came to their  rescue. NBC donated  to the school 45 desks worth  Tsh 2 million. It was a great day for one-year old Tuli Mpumilwa who on 13 December 2008 got baptized at the Kijenge Lutheran Church. Later she was feted at a reception at her family residence at Njiro Block B where this picture was taken.  From left to right, her Godfather and Godmother, Mr. Alfred Leo and Mrs Esther Leo; her mother Christina Rahii and  father Danford Mpumilwa. In the foreground is her four-year-old old sister, Rhoda Mpumilwa.

 

 



Disabled 22- year old  Leila Mubarak of Makao Mapya west of the municipality had reasons to  rejoice  at the beginning of this year. After appealing for assistance through the Arusha  Times, one of the readers of the Weekly, Sarah Grant of Trade Routes Eco Craft Ltd  donated  a knitting machine to her which she needed for her petty business.  Those who would like to help her please call  0755 55 45 88. To celebrate Christmas, disadvantaged children housed at the Usa River  Children Centre  were treated to a bash  and provided with gifts worth  Tsh 3 million by  Taliinasi BB located  in  Njiro area.  The gifts were  presented  by  Dr. Mark Bura and Mrs  Bura, directors of the Hotel . Also present at the bash was  Mr. Geert Lassen Holm, the Danish Consul  in Arusha  and main donor to the Usa River Children Centre. (Photo by Edward Selasini)



 


Places of Worship were flocked to usher in the New Year and the Arusha Lutheran Church Mjini Kati was no exception. (Photo by Raymond John)
 

Compassion International recently  donated various items  to about 270 children living in difficult conditions. The donations were issued at  the Free Pentecostal Church  located at Sokon One  at a recemony attended by the Wards  Councilor , Michael Kivuyo.  Above, parents and guardians  who also attended the ceremony.
