Maasai school to benefit from Earthdance 2008

By Our Correspondent

On Saturday 13th September Masai Camp will host its 5th annual Earthdance. This popular musical event is part of a global festival of peace which is held simultaneously

in many different countries and cities worldwide.

According to organizers of the event, from early evening onwards the audience can look forward to an exciting programme of live musical entertainment including local groups and well-known Tanzanian singers and musicians.

Olmuringiringa Primary School will benefit from the profits of this fundraising event.

Money raised will be used to build much needed classrooms and teachers’ accommodation.

The Arusha Children’s Trust, managed by Ishbel Brydon, has been operating in the Maasai village of Olmuringiringa since 2000 where a community centre and kindergarten have been built.

The NGO will work with the newly appointed head of the primary, Mr. Ole Supeet, to improve the school’s facilities for students and teachers.

The event is being sponsored by several local companies including KK Security, Tanzanian Breweries, Coca Cola, Tropical Trails, Karama Lodge, Alliance Francaise, The Arusha Times, TANELEC Ltd and Kiwieke Art and Design.
