Arusha youths dying too young

The youth  have always been the future of any community but in Arusha there have been concerns that the younger generation is dying at an  alarming rate leaving even their grandfathers behind. Raymond John went round to get people’s opinion on this.

Changes in lifestyle are taking drastic toll on the Arusha youths. When we were young we never took alcohol, smoke cigarettes, overindulge in sex or marry in tender age the way the modern youths seem to be doing nowadays.

And people used to eat natural foods with no preservatives, refined oils (fats) or too much salt. In contrary we are now giving our children factory processed and packaged foods and even when they eat chicken or eggs are the ones that are artificially bred.  Modern children balloon into adult-like bodies in just nine years.

Moral degradation is what is sending local youths into early graves. Most young men marry even without any employment and as soon as they settle at  home, frustrations brought about by  the struggle to survive and provide for the family begin.

On the other hand consumption of alcohol and drug taking topped with lack of, or inadequate food cuts down their life span in half.

In the good old days there were fewer deadly diseases and people enjoyed bumper harvest which means there was plenty to eat as well. Today we are in the midst of epidemics, diseases such as Tuberculosis and HIV-Aids and these keep taking lives away.

Also majority of youths are unemployed and do not want to work.  They spend most of their time drinking, smoking and indulging in sexual activities. There are those who take the easy way – stealing.  Whichever the case the end is usually never good for them.

There is no difference between the old days and present days.  Life has always been difficult around here. People have been dying young since time in history because the youths have always been lazy, drunkard and sex oriented.

Besides, our environments have always been overcrowded, dirty and unhealthy. Diseases such as cholera, malaria and even fever, not to mention accidents, are enough to kill people in large numbers due to pathetic or non-existent medical services.
