| Arusha hosts
part of soccer regional tourney by Staff Reporter Arusha is one of the two venues hosting the senior challenge cup which kicks off today, Saturday, December 8. The other venue is Dar es Salaam. Tanzania will play Kenya’s Harambee Stars in the opening match at the National Stadium while Arusha hosts Group C matches which comprises Zanzibar Heroes, Sudan and Ethiopia. Group A with Tanzania Mainland, Burundi, Kenya and Somalia; and B comprising Rwanda, Uganda, Djibouti and Eritrea will stage their show in Dar es Salaam. Meanwhile, maximum entrance fees for all matches involving the home side, Kilimanjaro Stars have been set at Tsh.20,000 in Dar es Salaam. In Arusha spectators will be able to watch the matches at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium at an entrance fee of Tsh.5,000 for the main stand and Tsh.2,000 for other stands. The mainland team won the title in 1974 and 1994. The Regional championship is preceded by annual general elections of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA).
