Lazeli girls invent ‘Microbongo detector’

by Edward Selasini

Four girl students from Lazeli Secondary Schools have invented a simple machine which works like a computer to detect the correct answers from the question papers. The four girls are in form one at the school.

The invented machine is called Microbongo Simple Circuit - 2007 and it is designed to detect the required item in question papers. It has a simple stored program which never lights the bulb when the item selected is wrong but it lights the bulb when the correct answer is selected.

The four students namely Bertha Eric, Ladengunda Chuwa, Catherine Mollel and Luyana Mbuya told the Longido Member of Parliament Honorable Michael Lekule Laiser that Microbongo SC-2007 is another type of a computer based on integrated circuit.

Similarities between Microsoft Window XP- Professional and Microbongo SC-2007 is that they both use power to run and manipulate data. They obey list of instructions called programs and they have integrated circuits.

Hon. Lekule was the guest of honor in the school closing and prize giving day for the Lazeli Schools. The four girl students were awarded with gifts. Bertha Eric was the best student of the year 2007.

Hon. Lekule urged the girls to work harder especially in science subjects as they have shown how serious they are in science by inventing the Microbongo SC-2007 machine adding that in future they might invent something else which could help the nation.
