High profile artistes to grace Africa Unite Festival By Arusha Times correspondent The United African Alliance Community Center UAACC is scheduled to present the first annual Africa Unite festival which will take place on Saturday, October 27 starting from 4:00pm, at Via Via situated in the gardens of the National Natural History Museum on Boma Road. “At UAACC, we celebrated African Liberation Day in May; the start of the African Millennium in September and now we want to make more people aware of the importance of the continental wide ‘Africa Stand Up’ campaign to eradicate poverty and promote self education which has been adopted as part of the United Nations Millennium Goals, said Mama Charlotte O’Neal, program director at UAACC on Wednesday. She explained that the Africa Unite Festival will be a concrete way for youth to share with the Arusha community the positive aspects of their art and vision for peace, love and prosperity in Africa and ultimately, for the global community that we share. The festival, which will be suitable for the whole family and all communities, will showcase the talents of students, poets and musicians based at UAACC and will focus on how self empowerment and high self esteem can be achieved through learning and sharing knowledge. The Warriors from the East band will be the main headliners of the festival with specials appearances by well known Madagascar dancer and choreographer, Dadi; Arusha songbird, Nakaaya; well known Contagious break dancers and many other talented youth. Mr. David Kavishe, District Cultural Officer, will serve as Guest of Honor of the event.
