Daminian wins Rotary Maths Quiz Competition
Emmanuel Daminian of Angelico Lipani school based in Mbauda is a maths wiz. His performance in a Rotary- sponsored Maths Quiz competition held on Saturday, October 20th 2 at Jaffery Primary school was outstanding. The competition was organized for all standard VI English and Kiswahili medium schools. Mr. Siddharth Iyer awarded the best Mathematician award to Emmanuel Daminian from Angelico Lipani English Medium School and Herieth Andrew from Uhuru Primary School. Overall, Angelico Lipani were the first in the competition, Mt. Meru was second and Arusha Modern the third of the ten English Medium Schools that participated. Uhuru Primary School was the first, Kijenge Primary School the second of the five Kiswahili medium schools that had attended. The other schools that participated are Jaffery Primary School the hosts, Kilimanjaro Primary School, Trust St. Patrick School, Arusha School, Shalom, Notre Damme and Maromboso from the English Medium Schools. Whereas other participants from the Kiswahili medium schools include Themi, Engira and Naura.
The Rotary Club of Arusha chairman Mr. Siddharth Iyer informed the teachers and students from ten English Medium schools and five Kiswahili medium schools that the Rotary club would continue organizing various competitions to promote academic excellence and to develop various academic skills among students in the coming years.
the Rotary club which was founded in the year 1905 in Chicago by Attorney Paul B. Harris and whose motto is service above self; promotes and supports excellence throughout the world. He said that they will be able to support any talented and gifted students in their studies if there is need for such support. The Rotary Club will continue conducting various competitions this is just the beginning he said.
