US donors to support Basotu ward

Saint Joseph Medical Centre of Baltimore, State of  Maryland, which has been supporting Karatu District in Arusha Region in terms of health, education and water  will stretch its helping hand to Basotu Ward in Hanang District, Manyara Region.

This was disclosed last week by the Member of Parliament for Karatu District Dr. Willibrod Slaa, who was  accompanied by his wife Rose, a Councillor for Basotu Ward , to the tour of the United States of America.

Dr. Slaa, who returned from his three-week long tour of the US on Friday October 19th,  said that the Co-ordinators of St. Joseph’s Medical Centre would visit Basotu early February next year in order to initiate the partnership and to explore areas of support.

On October 15th, the Regent University in Virginia hosted Dr. Slaa, and his wife at the Founders Inn & Spa where he discussed entrepreneurship initiatives in Tanzania. In addition to being a member of the Tanzanian Parliament, Dr. Slaa serves as executive director for the Tanzania Society for the Blind.

Dr. and Mrs. Slaa briefed his hosts on Tanzania's economy and discussed the country's need to encourage entrepreneurial growth in Tanzania, including opportunities for those with disabilities.

Dr. Slaa left Tanzania on Saturday, October 20th,  for Lilongwe Malawi to attend a Southern African Development Community (SADC) Meeting.
