Tanzania is among five East African Community countries that would
participate in the coming Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools
Sports Association (FEASSSA) tournament to be held in Kenya at the end
of this month.
National Sports Council (NSC) Chairman Idd Kipingu said in Dar es Salaam
last week that participating schools would sponsor their teams.
"We are now in the final stages of preparation for the games. All
modalities would be ready soon,’’ Kipingu told the Daily News. He
mentioned the games that would feature in the tournament as handball,
and basketball for both boys and girls. Rugby would involve boys only.
Kipingu, who is also FEASSSA
vice-president (Tanzania) said the games were hosted by Tanzania last
year in which Kenya emerged overall winners. FEASSA member countries are
Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Burundi. All countries have
confirmed their participation in the games.
