Mondo Challenge bolsters social welfare projects by Daniel Luka A British non governmental organization - Mondo Challenge - has so far spent some Tsh.40 million on social welfare undertakings in northern Tanzania. In a report issued by David Kinisi of Hope Trust Fund of Ngaramtoni, an agency of Mondo Challenge, it was explained that the British NGO’s aim was to run voluntary services in health, education and economic development in Arumeru district. The funds disbursed to Tanzania through Mondo Challenge are mainly contributions by individuals coming from the USA, Britain and Australia, since the year 2002. Ngaramtoni area has been the major beneficiary of the Mondo Challenge services. Kinisi also listed other areas covered in Mondo support as Arusha, Longido, Usangi (In Kilimanjaro), Tanga and Pangani. Villages enjoying the benefits of Mondo activities in Arumeru are Sambasha, Timbolo, Kimunyak, Emaoi and Mukulat. The villages received business investment funds while the schools received text books, desks, water supply, electricity, laboratory equipment and computers. |
