Police call for public help in hunt for trigger-happy gangsters Police in Arusha has called on the public cooperation in the hunt for four gangsters who recently shot and injured one Donald John (17), a resident of Sokon One area in the municipality of Arusha. The Arusha Regional Police Commander, Basilio Matei told reporters that John was walking about in the area when he was shot by one of the four gangsters who were then standing on the road side. The young man was shot on July 12 at 7.30pm. The gangsters escaped after the victim raised alarm. RPC Matei said Donald was in stable condition at the Mount Meru Regional Hospital where he was admitted after the assault. Police investigations are still going on. |

Tsh 3.4m diverted to other expenses A resident of Kijenge-Mwanama area, Ato Kidane (34) has been accused of stealing cash money Tsh.3,450,000. He is alleged to have been entrusted with the money by one Fred Brown to buy him a bail of clothes for retail purposes. The accused instead used the amount of money for his own expenses, it was alleged in court. Inspector Shamy Dunia pressed the charges before Resident Magistrate, Sundi Fimbo on July 9. The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on September 15 this year at about noon near the Clock Tower in Arusha. The accused denied the charges and he is under custody until July 23 when his case will be mentioned again.
Trio charged with cheque forgery Three men are facing charges of forging a cheque to show that it was genuine and valid. George Korona (46) a resident of Sekei Juu, Haji Lukindo (36) of Naura, Christian Lekey (30) of Kambi ya Fisi are alleged to have committed the offence on May 25 this year at about 3.00pm at Njiro area in Arusha municipality. The accused allegedly, with intent to defraud, did forge cheque No, 405754 of Tsh.6,735,000 dated 25/5/2007. In a second count, the accused allegedly issued the cheque to acquire four computers valued at Tsh.6,735,000 the property of one Jared Bhalloo. Inspector Isongero Iserebe pressed the charges before Resident Magistrate Didas Mlay on July 11 this year. The accused denied the charges and are still under custody until July 23, this year a date scheduled for another mention of their case.
Kijenge resident charged with theft
A resident of Kijenge area in Arusha region, Lazaro Joseph (22) is facing charges of stealing various items valued at Tsh.2,600,000 the property of one Britta Meyer. The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on June 25, this year at about 9.00pm at the Ethiopian restaurant in Kijenge area of the municipality. Inspector Pili Misungwi read the charges before Resident Magistrate, Didas Mlay on July 3 this year. The accused is alleged to have stolen one video camera valued at Euro 600, a camera charger valued at US Dollars 200, flash disc valued at Tsh.120,000, cable and digital camera charger valued at Tsh.600,000 and cash money Tsh.20,000 all with a total value of Tsh.2,600,000. The accused is also facing a second
count. Being a person employed by the Ethiopian restaurant as a night
guard, he failed to use all reasonable means to prevent commission of
the felony. The accused denied the charges and he is out on bail until
July 19 this year when his case will be mentioned again. Money stolen from Banana Investment Police in Arusha are on the look out for Fabian Ndalu, a resident of Olorien who is alleged to have stolen by servant from his employer, Banana Investments Limited, a total of Tsh.2,435,400. According to Arusha's Regional Police Commander, Basilio Matei, the suspect stole the amount from the administrative manager's office on July 13. The manager, Michael David had told police that Ndalu disappeared ever since the incident. Police investigations are still going on.
