Fuel your soul at Matongee
By Elisha Mayallah

Arusha has a myriad of nyama choma places tucked away in various corners of the sprawling city. Some feature the most basic making it difficult to tell the good from the bad. However, a clean environment spacious seating area and so on is what makes a place a go area. This, notwithstanding, the variety of meats - all contribute to making such places classic and welcoming.

Matongee club in Arusha is just one of such classic places. The club offers scores of residents, visitors and transiting visitors various nyama choma choices, from goat to chicken served with varied condiments. Samaki choma is also doing very well after its successful introduction several months ago.

Visitors and transiting travellers prefer it for its quiet, leafy environment that presents it a hearty bright look from a far. And the big tick is its closeness to the Central Business District [CBD].

Nyama choma is usually served in large steel plates, which include sizeable chunks of beef, goats, fish and chickens. The 'soup' meat that has been on fire for hours is delicious starter to welcome the first drink at Matongee. The club which accommodates close to 90 people offers local food in their lunch menus, as this draws the-ever increasing clientele craving for Ugali na samaki, among other menus.

Matongee club, managed by the famous person in town "Mr. Sombyo", is continuing to enjoy hosting notable people in the region. The wildly diverse clientele is what really makes Matongee club comes alive with classic music played through a high-tech music system, which provides fuel for the soul while enjoying nyama choma.

Experience and experience alone can only afford you a better appreciation of Matongee club. It is an experience you won't easily replicate elsewhere in the Arusha city and for that reason it is worth a visit.
