The Ordinary Level
National Examinations were not as difficult as we were
fearing. Actually what make things to be hard for some
students is the question of their particular learning
environment. For instance lack of facilities such as
books, because even the regional library itself is short
of academic books, thus there is no alternative.
Some local schools also don't have enough teachers,
while others could be lazy and unmotivated. The only way
out here is for parents to assist their children in
studying at home plus buying them books. |

Most students hate
studying after the normal school hours or during
holidays and that is why a number of them performed
poorly in the recent national O-LEVEL examinations.
Girls have done much better this year because there has
been a major educational awakening among female students
of late.
Male students seem to be more occupied in sports, group
posses, music, movies and other forms of entertainment,
but mostly adopting to some pop fashions. |

Most students had
timed their studying sessions badly that is why the
majority could not perform well. A number of them
studied quite hard for the Mock examinations expecting
them to be difficult, but when the Mocks proved to be
easy, the students relaxed, as the result the finals hit
them by surprise.
I would advise students to start studying in order to
learn not just to pass the examinations. Here there is
the need to study practically everything, not just the
fields that we feel will come up in the test papers. |
