| Moshi to host cyclists competition By Matilda Kirenga More than 60 cyclists will participate in a competition scheduled to start in Moshi on February 24. The meet will draw cyclists from outside and withinthe country and will be held under the auspices of the Wild Frontier Safaris, Kilimani Challenge 2006 and DASANI. Explaining the event, the Operation Manager of Wild Frontier Safaris, Mr. Max Christopher said that the two- day race would start in the Moshi Municipality on February 24th at 07:30 a.m. and would cover a distance of 283 kilometres. On the first day, the expected distance to be covered would be 122 kilometres while on the following day they will bike 161 kilometres. They will end at Rongai in Rombo District the first day, and the following day they will return to Moshi. Mr. Christopher pointed out that besides cycling there are other two events which every participant is expected to opt.He said that the cycling event will be preceded by aseven-day hike of the Kilimanjaro Mountain.Eventually, the cyclists will participate in the Kilimanjaro Marathon, which will be held on Sunday,February 26th in Moshi. According to Mr. Christopher the winners of the three events will be awarded various prizes. Participants are required to pay US dollars 90 as entrance fees and will enter with their own bicycles . Sponsors willcater for meals and accommodation during the competition.
