Arusha marathon veteran to run at "Kili Marathon"
By Edward Selasini

To Joramu Zakaria Mollel life starts at 70. Indeed he has just turned 70 years old and he has enrolled to run 21 kilometres in the Kilimanjaro Marathon to be held on February 26 in Kilimanjaro region.
Speaking to The Arusha Times he said in this year's event he has opted to participate in the 21-km marathon instead of the 5km race he used to. He normally emerges first in the old age category.
He said he was expecting to perform better this year and show the world that he is not a spent force.
Mollel has participated in many marathon events since 1991 although he has never joined any club. He had been participating in 10km, 21km and 42km races and the 5km race which he has been participating for the last three years.
Mollel said since he does not belong to any club he has no support and therefore cannot participate in major events which he is often invited.

He urged other aged people to do exercises like running to keep their bodies and minds in a health manner. He said in a day early in the morning he spends three hours running from Kijenge to Magereza, Kisongo and this helps him from minor diseases like joint pains and fever.
He also urged the Tanzania Amateur Athletes Association (TAAA) to help the veterans in all means whenever there are events like "Kili Marathon".
