| Self help initiative raises funds for road
rehabilitation By Matilda Kirenga About Shs. 5 million has been raised during fund raising ceremony held at Sokon II in the Arumeru District. The fund raising ceremony which was presided by the Arumeru District Council Chairman, Mr. John Saitabau was meant for the rehabilitation of a five- kilometre road stretch between Sekei and Olgilai Villages. Speaking to the Arusha Times Councillor Loiruk Riti of Sokon II Ward said that the ceremony was attended by residents ofOlturoto and his ward, Sokon II. Mr. Riti said thatthe road is important for more than 30,000 residents of two wards, who are using it for transporting their produce to the market. He said that although their estimated the rehabilitation would cost Shs. 4 million, the fund raising has surpassed the amount.Hence, during the gatheringthey resolved to further improve the road, water resources and to construct classrooms.
