The local branch of the Airport cargo handling company of Swissport
Tanzania Limited has pledged to continue maintaining its tempo as the
benchmark in terms of quality services, customer dedication, and cost

"Experienced and reputable airports ground services provider in Tanzania
currently operating in Julius Kambarage Nyerere and Kilimanjaro

Two years records indicated that the number of aircrafts landing daily
at KIA increased from only two, way back in 1998 when the Kilimanjaro
Airports Development Company (KADCO) took over the airport, to more than
50 at the moment.
Temu however implored staff to work diligently and adhere to their
professional ethics so as to satisfy customers need and boost company's
returns.
Speaking at the function, the Swissport KIA branch Manager, Stella
Kitali said for the first time her firm has introduced executive
aviation service at KIA. In line with the executive aviation, Stella
noted, also Swissport deals with other services such as bookings,
maintenance, fueling and cargo handling so as to make life easy for
their customers.
During the function, six workers were awarded Tsh.500,000 each together
with special certificates in recognition of their diligence at work
place in 2005. The acknowledged staff included Mohamed Kiroro, Gryason
Mkumbwa, Samson Urio, Ramadhan Mayele, Evarist Muya and Crasiana Moshi.

awarded the 2005 triumph for maintaining its pace.
On October 1st 2005, Dar es Salaam Airport Handling Company Limited (DAHACO)
launched a new corporate name - Swissport Tanzania Ltd.
With a spirit of crafting a winning partnership and competitive
positioning in a globalized aviation market, launching of the new
corporate name went along with celebrations of the 20th anniversary of
DAHACO now Swissport Tanzania Ltd. The firm was incorporated in 1985
with Air Tanzania Company owning the majority of the shares – 65 percent
other shareholders were Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS), 35 percent
and SWEDFUND AB and IFU International 10 percent shares each. In 1990
the service was extended to KIA to capture the growing demand of ground
and cargo handling services at that airport. During the 20 years of
existence Swissport Tanzania Ltd has been very successful in all areas
and it is one of the role models in Tanzania. In May 2000, the company
was privatized when Swissport International, one of the leading airports
ground handling companies in the world acquired 51percent share holding;
with the remaining stake being owned by the Treasury Registrar on behalf
of the government of the United Republic of Tanzania. In March to May
2003, through an Initial Public Offer (IPO), the government relinquished
to the general public its 49 percent of its stake in the Company;
followed by the listing of the Company to Dar-es-Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE)
in June 2003. Swissport International Ltd. is a major force in the
global ground and cargo handling business. Currently, it serves more
than 70 million passengers, and provides ramp handling for over 2
million aircraft. In 2004, SPI reported revenues of CHF1.297 billion and
employed more than 21,000 people worldwide. The number of stations
served by Swissport rose to 187. The combined volume of cargo handled is
more than 3 million metric tons. Swissport currently operates in 41
countries.
