Diamond's expansive menu
reflect a highly trained chef |
Local dishes give Diamond Motel an edge above others
By Elisha Mayallah
It's hard to find a restaurant that caters to all generations these
days, and Diamond Motel, located ten minutes drive away from the Central
Business District [CBD], is a welcome change. Most restaurants in Arusha
are all about the food, not so much about the presentation. So it must
be a tick for Diamond Motel that the ideas are there.
Rising to the challenge of making local dishes which taste and look good
is something often reserved for three to four - star restaurants.
Diamond Motel's seasonal menu screams fusion, and prepared with a local
cuisine. Many patrons swam the restaurant enjoying meals prepared from
expansive menus which reflect a highly trained chef.
Main courses are heavy on beef, chicken or fish, and it is hard to find
fault with the Bukoba food speciality. Thin boiled or roasted bananas
come over a warm salad of potatoes, mussels and olives balanced one
another.
As you would expect, boiled chicken or beef with varied vegetables are
on the menu, and although they are perfectly good, skip them for the
boiled soup if your stomach is half full. An equally fine choice is the
pork dry-fry served with warm bananas.
The food is good and so is the restaurant with the open dining room near
a sizeable large patio. Seating is comfortable and seats are not
attached to the backing, making them tip forward as diners lean toward
the table. Tables are spaced widely apart, but just about every diner
has a panoramic view of the seven rooms available for accommodation. A
phone call on 0744 021 555 or 2504931 to reserve a table is recommended.
A part of the entrance is given to a welcoming garden with a secure
parking area partly hidden. The hosts are true to their promise as
diners entertained by present-day music in the background as tension
seems to flow out with the tide. "All customers entering our door mean
business and in return we offer impeccable services" Said Mr. Mbarara
Narcis, the Managing Director.
