Belting out tunes to help orphans By Happy Lazaro St. Stephen Anglican Church situated at Ngarenaro in the Arusha Municipality has launched a group of five singers, known as “Dickson Gospel Singers,” as initiative to help orphans and underprivileged children. During the launching ceremony, held at the church, they produced compact discs and audio tapes to be sold at the price of Shs. 6,500/= and Shs. 1,500/= respectively, the proceeds of which will be used to help the underprivileged children. Choir Leader, Mr. Dickson Paulo said that they have volunteered to establish the group in order to assist the children to obtain food, uniforms and other requirements. He added that the objective on the project is to ensure that the children do not depend only on foreign donors , “we can also help them through our talents”. The guest of honour, during the launching ceremony was Sales and Marketing Manager of Bimel Enterprises Limited, Mr. Jacob Kakoko who contributed Shs. 500,000/= to boost the initiative. Mr. Kakoko called on Christians and the public in general to assist the underprivileged children so that the do not involve themselves in vices such as robbery. During the ceremony, more than Shs. 690,000/= was realised after the sale of recorded songs.
