| Vodacom enhances police communication by Happy Lazaro The police force in Arusha has received five wireless phones from Vodacom cell phone company headquarters in Dar es Salaam for easier public communication within the region and with the police force headquarters. Regional Police Commander, Basilio Matei said the donated sets are ordinary desktop ones that are electric charged and can use dry cells in case of power failure. One set will be kept in the police station’s charge room office (CRO) awaiting public calls. Phone numbers are similar to the mobile phone ones for easy access by members of public through their own handsets. Each of the phones has already serviced with air time worth Tsh.100,000. He gave the phone numbers as 0743 452 969 for Arusha district; Arumeru - 0743 452 991; Karatu - 0743 - 452 992; Monduli - 0743 452 996 and Ngorongoro - 0743 - 452 993. The RPC encouraged members of the public to use the new phones for easier communication saying although the public has always been ready to communicate they have been frustrated by failure to access the only available line number 112.
