Yet another determined plan for MS -TCDC

MS – Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS-TCDC) based in
Arumeru marked its 30th year anniversary last Friday with the launch of
yet another determined strategic plan.
MS – TCDC, a non profit training centre under NGO MS (Danish Association
for International Cooperation), started its operations in Tanzania in
the early 1970's at Tengeru . It was officially launched in 1976 when it
shifted its headquarters to Usa River.
As the Centre marks it 30th -year anniversary with great success in its
programmes , a five- year strategic plan (2006 – 2010) aiming at
expanding the wings of cooperation and boosting the overall image of the
centre was also launched.
Speaking during the launching of the Centre's Strategic plan, the
director of training Prudence Kaijage said MS- TCDC has prepared the
five-year plan with great involvement of staff and also by analysing
major challenges as well as focusing on ways to improve the Centre.
Areas of focus include Civil Society Organisations (CSO's) role to
operate as change agents.
"...In our 2006 – 2010 strategic plan have also focused various
challenges we are facing and the need to strengthen cooperation with
CSO's and private sector at large in order to attain our goals as well
as Millenium Development Goals (MDGs)", Kaijage said.
The other areas of activities in the strategic plan include key
decisions which cover groups and other geographical areas in countries
such as Ethiopia, Somali land, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Chief Guest Geert Holm, the Danish Consul in Arusha Region who also
worked as Executive Officer of the Centre by then Danish Volunteer
Training Centre (DVTC) in 1980s commended the Centre’s gigantic steps
forward.
"It is indeed a great achievement not only for this Centre but also for
Danish taxpayers as we mark 30 years of success as we can all see the
tremendous and steady changes and improvement like the library building
and conference hall just to mention a few”, he said.
Ulla Godtfredsen, the centre’s outgoing principal pointed out that the
changes and achievements of the Centre were the fruits of the Centre’s
spirit of working as a team.
Ms Godtfredsen, said she feels proud to be at the centre with committed
and dedicated staff who made it what it is now.
The Centre will for the first time in its history have an African
principal Mr. Prudence Kaijage who has been appointed to lead the
prestigious institutions from January next year.
