Father kills child, slashes into pieces

Resident of Arumeru District identified by name of Musa is being sought by Police for allegedly killing and slashing his child into pieces using a knife.
The incident occurred on September 3, this year at 10:00 p.m. at Majengo Area in Arumeru District.
Explaining the incident, the Regional Police Commander, Mr. Basilio Matei said that Musa killed his son Jumanne Musa (4) allegedly because he was in a feat of anger.
Musa is alleged to have quarreled with his wife and forced her to leave their house. The wife returned to her parents leaving Musa with the child. .
After killing the child, Musa called his wife through telephone informing her that the child was seriously sick and she should return home. When the wife arrived, she found the child was dead and the father had escaped.
Meanwhile, a resident of Monduli, Kasanda Elibariki Mbwambo (31) has been found dead after hanging himself.
The incident occurred in the deceased’s room on September 3, at 06:00 p.m. at Kirurumo Area. He allegedly hanged himself using an electric wire and leaving a note, “Hali ya maisha imekuwa ngumu,” literally meaning, “living conditions have been arduous.”
Mr. Matei said that the deceased was found by his friend who paid a visit to him and found him dead and still hanging. The friend later reported the matter to the police.

Watch your tongue

Two persons who allegedly called a deputy court registrar and a magistrate “ nincompoops” may have reasons to watch their tongues in future.
It was claimed in court that they told the deputy registrar in Swahili, “Wewe ni mpumbavu pamoja na hakimu wako,” literary meaning, “You’re a nincompoop and so is your magistrate.”
Moses Saimon (37) and Joyce Moses (31) both residents of Sekei area allegedly committed the offence on August 26 this year at 1.00pm at Kaloleni area in Arusha municipality.
Inspector Shamy Dunia alleged before the Resident Magistrate, Sundi Fimbo that both accused used abusive language against the two officials.
The accused are also facing a second count that on the same day and time did behave in a manner that caused disturbance.
They allegedly did so when they were demanding the judgement copy in “such a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace.”
The accused denied the charges when they appeared in the court for the first time on August 31.
Both are out on bail until September 22 this year when the case will be mentioned again.

Driver accused of possessing 2.5 tonnes of Miraa

A driver, Abdallah Magiri (28), resident of Ngaramtoni in Arumeru district is alleged to have been caught in possession of a 2,260kg consignment of a mind-bending drug known as Mirungi. The consignment was valued at Tsh.5,650,000.
The drug which is illegal in Tanzania but legal in neighbnouring Kenya is normally chewed.
Inspector Theopista Mallya alleged before Resident Magistrate, Didas Mlay that the accused committed the offence on August 24 this year at about 12.30 pm at Lengijave village within Arumeru district.
The accused is reported to have been on his way to sell the drug.
The accused appeared in court on August 24 this year and denied the charges. He was allowed bail of Tsh.2 million with two sureties until September 20, this year when the case comes for mention again.
Meanwhile, Rasuli Shaban (19) a resident of Unga Limited is facing charges of armed robbery and stealing Tsh.10,000 from one Thomas Joseph.
Shaban is alleged to have broken and entered into the house of the said person and stealing therein Tsh.10,000. According to the charge sheet he used a double edged knife to slash his victim in his shoulder and right arm in order to obtain the money.
He appeared in court on August 30 this year before Resident Magistrate Didas Mlay with Inspector Theopista Mallya pressing the charges.
The accused committed the offence on August 6 this year at 10.00pm at Sokon One in the Arusha municipality.
The accused who denied the charges is still under police custody until September 20 this year when the case will be mentioned again.
