Matthysen's star shines also in Babus' meet
By our correspondent
Paul Matthysen continued his winning streak by winning the Babu's competition
played at Arusha Gymkhana Club last mid this month.
It is believed by the golfing circles that whenever ones handicap goes down, the
better the player becomes and that is exactly what the Arusha Gymkhana Club
Chairman Paul Matthysen has done since his handicap was chopped from 15 to 12.
He amassed 19 stableford points on the front nine and 21 points in the back nine
for a total of 40 stableford points. When asked after the tournament what was
the secret behind his resent performances, he simply said 'The closer you get to
the top, the better you played and the higher the pressure, the more positive
the response!'
The Runner up prize went to the immediate past Chairman Mr. G.P. Ruta on a score
of 37 stableford points beating Col. S. Kaaya on count back. The winner of the
guest prize was Mathias Joseph on 37 stableford points, while the runner up was
Muzapha Yusufali on 37 stableford points beating Mahmood Somji on count back.
The first nine holes was won by the golf Vice Captain Jatin Sonecha on 22
stableford points while Mr. Patrick Tsere took the second nine on 21 stableford
points winning on a count back from Mr. M. Yusufali and Mr. Mike Shirima. Two
Clubs were achieved by O. Mollel and Ms. Peace Akwei-Brock.
