AFC Soccer team camps at Mto wa Mbu
By Nassib Majamba
The area known as 'Mto-wa-Mbu' near Manyara National Park, is a notorious place
as far as mosquitoes are concerned, but this hasn't stopped the Arusha Football
Club (AFC) soccer team from setting up their exercise camp there.
Warming up for the forthcoming football leagues starting on the 27th of March,
the team is putting up 30 players for the camp, at the end of which the
'executive team' of eleven footballers is set to be produced, ready to face
practically anything on their way.
The AFC camp is running under the supervision of the team=s assistant coach,
Aziz Nyoni Njalambaya but he is soon going to get a helping hand from Rajab
Rashid who was recently chosen to be the acting coach after Ally Mtumwa resigned
from the post prematurely.
Sources inside the team reveal that, Mto-wa-Mbu (translates into 'River of
mosquitoes') a location within the Monduli district, was chosen because it is a
quite, remote area which allows for peaceful training yet also, it is an area
where all basic requirements are readily available.
Meanwhile the Arusha Football Club committee has appointed Yusuf Lusinde to be
the assistant team manager effective from the 21st of February 2005. Lusinde who
is now going to work under the AFC manager, Dennis Shemtoi was proposed during
the committee session of Friday the 19th of February 2005.
Meanwhile, the AFC chairman, Salim Basho Mboga has refused to accept the
resignation letter from Ally Mtumwa, explaining that the matter still had to be
addressed officially to see if there could be another solution.
