Asante Mama Kuku and Rotarians
Dear Editor
I write to convey my most sincere appreciation to the Rotary Club - Arusha
Chapter for their exemplary social undertakings in the Arumeru District and
beyond.
Foremost, I want to express my gratitude to them for saving us the great shame
of running a market almost right on a highway -- as this is what had become of
the Tengeru market. This, I believe, was the only market world over that was
conducted on a highway, with business as usual for the highway vehicles .I
presume, it also ranked as one of the dirtiest markets during the rainy season
and the most disorgarnized all year round.
The efforts and actions of the Rotarians could not have been better and came
when we had almost given up! Not only have they built a market but an exhibition
ground for training women in modern agricultural practices. Your effort is a
clear illustration of what individual efforts and commitment of the likes of
Mama Kuku can do in society. Asante Mama Kuku. Hopefully, this will be a wake up
call to Tanzanians to stop waiting for the government.
.
To the government, particularly the local government in Arumeru, the ball is now
in your court --we hope you will not proceed to set up a system that will run
down the market as--- I regret to say, is your practice!!
To the Rotarians and your supporters we say-Happy centenary and many happy
returns.
A Mungure

Municipal light boxes and garbage
The Arusha Municipal Council taxes advertising light boxes
with TZS 181,800 per square metre.
I just found that Rotterdam, a city with the second biggest port in the world,
charges only an equivalent of TZS 52,000 per square metre in its city centre.
In spite of its lower taxes, Rotterdam still manages to have an effective
garbage collection system, etc.!

How can I contact Dietrick Komba
Dear Editor,
When we were in Tanzania in November 2004, we met a very nice person from
Arusha. We became very good friends and wrote letters and send e-mail to each
other. Now I had a virus in my personal computer and lost his address and e-mail
address.
I tried everything to find these addresses but to no result.
I found your e-mail address on the internet
Maybe you can help me by contacting him. I suppose that as a newspaper you have
access to lots of information.
His name is Dietrick Komba. He is a Safari driver by Leopard Safaris. I also
know he is an elder in the church.
If there is any possibility? Please help me. We don't want to lose contact with
him.
With much thanks,
Helen Raz
