Suicide in court: "Now you see me, now you don't"

A man recently committed suicide while his case was being heard at the Mto wa
Mbu Primary court in Monduli district.
Christopher Raphael aged 33, a resident of Mto-wa-Mbu location killed himself
shortly after declaring in court that he was going to start taking
responsibility for his long neglected family.
The Regional Police Commander, James Kombe said that the deceased was appearing
at the court to answer charges filed by his wife who accused him of abandoning
his family of four- a wife and three children.
Raphael, reportedly admitted the charges and vowed before the court that from
then henceforth, he was going to be bona fide family man and would be taking
care of both his wife and children.
According to Police reports, the accused, after pleading guilty, asked for
permission to go and help himself in the toilet, which he was granted. Raphael
however did not return, prompting his relatives to follow him there in order to
find out what was wrong.
The scene in the Court toilet was shocking! Christopher Raphael lay spreadeagled
on the floor with a foaming mouth. It immediately appeared that, the accused had
taken some form of poison. The police are still investigating the matter.
Raphael, died while being rushed to the Deaconical Mission Hospital at
Mto-wa-Mbu. The type of poison which the deceased took in order to end his life
is still not yet known.
