Trance Africa: A full moon gathering in the bush
by Staff Reporter
About 40 people from Arusha and its environs will today Saturday 19th of
February hold a full moon gathering dubbed ‘Trance Africa', an innovative way to
promote creativity, dance and trance.
The event will be held in bushland Savannah, north of Mount Meru close to
Namanga Road where Mt. Meru, Kilimanjaro and Longido command spectacular views.
Trance Africa is non-profit and non-formal organization that hosts music
gathering in attractive landscape locations around northern Tanzania.
"We organize the gathering for the Saturday nearest to the full moon. The
purpose is to attract people to get away from town and the usual pace of life",
noted one of the organizers in a communique to the Arusha Times.
The purpose of the gathering is also to pull away people from the "usual
alcohol-based social behaviour at the bars".
Participants of the gathering that lasts from Saturday to Sunday afternoon are
expected to contribute Tsh.10,000 each for the Trance-Africa fund that will
cover village fee, food and entrance.
"If you bring beer, please be responsible about it", says the communique.
