Swedish students, teachers visit Arusha

A total of eleven students and four teachers from the Hagabodaskolan school of
Sweden jetted into Arusha this week as educational guests for the Arusha School,
a visit which, is aimed at promoting cultural awareness between them and the
local pupils.
The Arusha School teacher and local coordinator of the visit, Charles Sawaki,
said the Swedish delegation which arrived here on Monday, the 14th of February,
will be staying in Arusha for a fortnight.
While here, the Swedish students will be visiting a number of local academic
institutions such including Lemara Primary School, Arusha Secondary School and
the Arusha campus for the International School of Moshi (ISM). They will also
visit one of the Arusha based street children centers.
Teachers accompanying the students include; Bengt Almgren, Monica Bjorsell,
Marta Bodin and Anna Gotlind. According to the head of the delegation, Marta
Bodin, most of the students know Swahili having learned the language back home,
in the recently formed Swahili learning club known as, "Tanzanian group in
Sweden."
Last year, some teachers from Arusha Primary School also visited the
Hagabodaskolan school in Sweden and while there, they managed to inspire the
establishment of a special Swahili class at the Swedish learning institution.
The Arusha School teachers who toured Sweden in the Educational trip are; the
Headmaster, Melkior Kiduma, Charles Sawaki, Eva Munuo and Joachim Mgonja. While
there, the delegation exchanged ideas with their Swedish counterparts at
Hagabodaskolan and visited various areas of education and community development.
The student delegation includes; Klara Artursson, Malin Axelssen, Robin
Cedermark, AndreasDahlberg, Bjorn Eurenius, Lina Gustavsoson, Pernilla Karlsson,
Julia Magnusson, Anna Remnefors, Lisa Runnvall and Christian Soderdahl. The
mutual cooperation between the two institutions, dates back to over three years
ago.
