Shadows
Shadows of self everywhere
Like ghosts of childhood stories
With faces of laughter and delight
A spending spree for the select
Only to poison the souls
Shadows of self now haunting
Only shadows remain
With selves in vaults of reproach
As community yell in anger
Anger burning in the eyes
The sullen eyes
Protruding from ghostly skulls
Moving shadows
Shadows are but shadows
With blows that won't last
With curses that won't bite
As remorse catches up with masses
Only shadows
Empty eyebrows!
Within households and fires
Stories abound of plenty
With sarcasm for purity
Untainted heroes not now!
Not for the shadows that move
With smiles so hollow and empty
It is all shadows
All adored in flamboyant attires
Elegant in motion and postures
Of wisdom and grace
Thanks God it is only shadows
And shadows pass with dusk
With faded ones in moonlight!
With no shadows at midday sun
