'We have touched the lives of 2 billion children'

Rebecca's sings gospel but with a
difference. |
This is the proud boast of Rotary International as they
explain their centennial gift of immunisation to 2 billion deserving children
around the world through the Rotary Foundation. The Foundation's work is not
limited to global initiatives such as protecting children against deadly disease
and providing educational initiatives like scholarships for post-graduate study
and international student exchanges, but can be seen through local initiatives:
stocking a library, supporting a leprosy centre, establishing a crθche,
supporting a centre for street children, rain-water harvesting at schools and
providing a borehole to a local community. Signs which announce these completed
projects are clearly visible from the road when driving along the Arusha / Moshi
Road.
Rotarians are proud of their achievements but even prouder to be involved in
their local communities. This individual commitment and involvement is
recognised alike by business colleagues and competitors and reflected in the
willingness that businesses have shown in providing prizes for the raffle to be
drawn at the Rotary Bollywood Gala Dinner on 19th November 2005. Prizes such as:
