Stanbic braces to step up customer services

Stanbic Tanzania Limited has installed a second automated teller machine (ATM) in Arusha in a bid to improve its customer service in the newly-
crowned city.

The new ATM has been placed outsidethe bank's only branchalongSokoine road, the main shopping avenue in Arusha where the first one was installeda few years ago.

Stanbic officials say Arushais an important market for the bank, especially for corporate and business marketing and was keen to attract more customers in the area.

The bank started its operations in Tanzania in 1995 when it took overoperations ofthe collapsed Meridian Biao Bank and currently has nine branches in the country.

Five of the branches are in Dar es Salaam. They include the newly-
openedStanbic Centre along Ali Hassan Mwinyi road, the main branch at Sukari House, Industrial branch, City Service branch and Mayfair Plaza branch.

The bank also has an ATM centre at Shoprite supermarket in the former Kamata building in Dar es Salaam. Upcountry branches are located at Arusha, Moshi, Mbeya and Mwanza.

Stanbic's officials from Dar es Salaam, who were here recently to meet their major clients and customers, hinted that they intend to open new branches in the country as well as install more ATMs in prime business areas.

Although theydeclined to disclose where the new branches would be establishedimpeccable sources said they are eyeing Morogoro, Zanzibar and some border towns.
