Parents urged to keep abreast with school activities

Parents have been urged to follow closely their children's school activities and
make sure they are abreast with new developments.
Dr. Naftal Ole King'ori, Arusha Regional Medical Officer made this call last
Friday during the graduation ceremony of 137 students who completed Standard
Seven at the Arusha School, in which he was the guest of honour.
" Be ready to listen to what the teachers say about the progress of your
children," emphasized Dr. King'ori, who is also Assistant Regional
Administrative Secretary.
Dr. King'ori also appreciated the progress of the school pointing out
developments in in learning computer skills. He said that Information Technology
is the current trend of the world in learning so the earlier the children know
about the technology, the better their future world would be. "W do not want to
be left out," he insisted.
The Headmaster of the Arusha School Mr. Nkurwa said that although the school was
facing an acute water shortage, with the help of the Regional Water Engineer,
the survey of the area to drill a borehole has already been done and tender for
bids would be advertised soon.
Regarding the students progress, he said last year among the 198 students who
sat for the Standard Seven examination, 170 were selected to enter public
secondary schools.
Following the Government Directive to include computer lessons in Primary School
Curriculum, the headmaster said, the school's teachers have been offered to
pursue computer lessons at the Arusha Branch of the University Computing Centre.
He requested friends and other well wishers to assist the school in getting
computers so as to make computer lessons possible.
Mr. Nkurwa expressed gratitude to Ms. Anne Zishka of the United States who
donated more than 300 bed sheets valuing 1.8 million/=.
During the ceremony two students, Humphrey Sanga and Julieth Joseph were
announced overall best students in academics.
