"Takhrima!" What, Who, When, Where and Why?

As we approach the General Elections a term that will be commonplace is takhrima. To many of those seeking political power the practice is not corruption. What is?

  • This being the election year, "Takhrima" is a local word which will constantly be heard around the political cycles. People are however yet to be told What that is supposed to mean, Who should use it, Where, but in particular .... Why?
The cash token known as "Takhrima!" was actually meant to mean an allowance of gratitude given to a person after accomplishing something, at least that is how I understand it. But offering "Takhrima," to a person who is yet to do something, raises eyebrows.

Most people are yet to know what the term entails and where exactly should "Takhrima" apply, otherwise the way the term is being used currently, only serves to play the role of bribery and this is especially in local politics.

As far as I am concerned, "Takhrima!" is essentially corruption camouflaged. If graft is illegal and Takhrima permitted, then people will use the latter channel to pass bribery.

Let everything be properly explained, People should be told what is Takhrima, how much does it cost, who should offer or be offered and important, Why! Or better still, to be on the safe side, why not scrap off the term altogether?

I learnt that the Takhrima being offered to Members of Parliament, is meant for them to prepared for the forthcoming elections. This is as good as bribery. We all know that MP's earn fat tax-free allowances while attending sessions, why don't they become self dependent for a change?

Instead of giving such Takhrima to MPs the government should channel the money to more useful things like helping the need or investing it in economy boosting ventures.
