Notice to the general public, and partners of the former Baptist Seminary of East Africa/The International Baptist Theological Seminary of Eastern Africa (IBTSEA).

The fore mentioned institution has now officially changed its name to MOUNT MERU UNIVERSITY. All official correspondences and transactions from 1st January 2004 shall be carried out on the new name: Mount Meru University.

As a University Mount Meru now offers Degrees and Diplomas in Theology and education -with majors in English, Information Theology and Religious Education.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

A.   DEGREE PROGRAM

DIRECT ENTRY

Applicants for this program shall meet the following minimum entry admissions requirement:

1.   Two Principal Level Passes (in appropriate subjects at ‘A’ level education of not less than 4.5 point whereby A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1, S = 0,5 and F = 0

N.B: Applicants having less than 4.5 points must sit and pass MMU’s entry examination

OR

Two Principal level passes (in appropriate subjects) not at the same sitting provided the passes are at grade “C” or higher.

OR

An appropriate equivalent Diploma/Certificate of not less than Second Class level as approved by the senate of MMU.

2.   Applicants from outside Tanzania will have their certificates evaluated by MMU senate before admission.

3.   An applicant whose language of instruction in Secondary School was not English or have difficulties in English language will need to enroll in the English qualifying program offered by MMU.

MATURE ENTRY

An applicant to be considered under this scheme must have the following:

Be 25 years of age.

Have either obtained at least 3 credits in approved subjects at ‘O’ level examination or attended Form VI at least five (5) years before the year in which admission is sought.

Have attended extra mural classes, residential courses or non residential course at an Adult Education College.

Sit and pass MMU mature age entry examination.
