Crying for mother Africa

Africa the mother of human kind
Africa the crucible of civilization
But Africa bearing the brunt of pain
As blood spills out of brutal massacres
Now shamefully engulfing the continent

Africa the mother of human kind
But now the mother of all pains
As the blessed land wrangles with rebellion
An arena for the arsenals
The weapons of terror in the hands
Of the innocent, manipulated child solders

Africa the mother of human kind
Abused repeatedly both in mantle and muscle
Her intellect reduced to ridicule
As brethren turn to each other
Up in arms and matchet

Africa the mother of human kind
But now caught at cross roads
Siphoning her riches away from her people
Diamonds in Liberia and Siera Leone
The virgin lands of Congo raped viciously

Africa the mother of human kind
Now her soil home to tears
Bodies of defenseless scattered and buried
Soil to soil the melody of shame
As the globe stare with indifference
As if applauding the genocidal spree

Africa the mother of human kind
But now tearful as betrayal is perpetuated
Her riches the only concern by the rest of humanity
As killing and misery engulf the people
Peace keeping deployment an after thought
The tribal clashes on unabated
