Korea donates computers and bus to EAC

The Republic of Korea has donated four computers and a mini bus to the Secretariat of the East African Community to contribute to the ongoing strengthening of the capacity of the Secretariat.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Tanzania, H.E. Juheon Jeong handed over the computers and the Hyundai 12-seater mini bus on January 15 to the Secretary General of the East African Community, Hon. Amanya Mushega at a brief ceremony in Arusha.

Hon Mushega thanked the government of the Republic of Korea for the generous donation which, he said, underlined the good relations between the Republic Korea and the East African Community .

Ambassador Jeong said the Republic of Korea recognized the important role of regional integration in East Africa being spearheaded by the East African Community. He said the Republic of Korea valued its relations with EAC and said the relations would grow from strength to strength in the period ahead.

According to a press statement issued by the Secretariat, the Secretary General and the Ambassador discussed areas of future co-operation between EAC and the Republic of Korea with particular reference to the forthcoming signing of the Protocol for the Establishment of the East African Community Customs Union.
