Street Talk

One more for the road

The Regional Transport Authorities recently abolished the old queueing system for local town buses in the Arusha municipality. Good or bad, commuters have this to say.
With the bus queueing system having been abolished at the mini buses terminal in Arusha, it’s the buses now that wait for passengers not vice versa. (Photo by Raymond John)

  • This new system of letting commuter van drivers plan for their own loading routine here at the terminal is much better, compared to the previous one.

In the past, some drivers used to be favoured by AKIBOA officials but now everything is under control and passengers no longer have to wait for hours.

This new directive of not letting any vehicle waste time at the terminal is good. We just drop off the passengers and move on.

It is unbelievable. This kind of freedom is hard to define but may it reign forever.

I am not quite sure if this new style is good, because we now experience chaos on road as each van scrambles for passengers.

It also allow pick pockets to benefit from the confusion and make the work of Traffic Police men even more difficult.
