Businessman accused of causing chaos at the bankby Matilda Kirenga A prominent businessman and resident of Arusha, has been taken to court, to answer two charges of assaulting and using foul language at a local bank. Appearing before Resident Magistrate, Sharmila Sarwatt, the accused, known as Verani Tango, is alleged to have committed both offences in the morning of Thursday, the 13th of June 2002. Public prosecutor, Inspector Alute Makita stated in court that the accused had insulted the first plaintiff, Salum Idd before attacking the second plaintiff, Kassim Shaaban. The two incidents occurred along Goliondoi road, at the Standard Chartered Bank in June 2002. Tango is being charged under Act Number 89 Section A, for the foul language allegations and Act Number 241 for the assault charges. The accused has denied both charges and is out on bail of Tsh.500,000 , with two sureties. His case is scheduled to come up for its second mention on Tuesday, the 7th of September 2004. Meanwhile, a resident of Kijenge, Wangaeli Ndossi Manyama aged 42 years, has appeared at the same court, to answer charges of murder. Ndossi is alleged to have killed one, Paulo Fundi, who was a resident of Kiwawa village in Arumeru district. According to the public prosecutor, Alute Makita, the murder was committed in the evening of Friday, the 27th of August 2004. Set to come up for another mention on Tuesday, the 14th of September this year, the case is still being investigated by the Police.
