World Vision organises charity event for HIV/AIDS orphansby Staff Reporter World Vision Tanzania bracing to raise Tsh.40 million for orphans residing in Rushwa ward of Muleba district in Kagera, has organized a golf tournament on Saturday, September 4 at the Arusha Gymkhana Club. The event, together with a Gospel concert to be held on August 29th, is aimed at raising funds to support 2,887 orphans who are victims of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The funds to be raised at the events will support basic needs of the orphans education. According to an official WVT any amount of contribution would go a long way in changing the lives of the orphans, for example; Tsh.200,000 would provide 50 desks for sitting 150 pupils; Tsh.500,000 school uniforms for 50 orphans; Tsh.1,000,000 would buy 125 iron sheets that could roof three classrooms; and a contribution of Tsh.4,000,000 would build one classroom. "A sponsorship of any or a combination of the above-identified activities is greatly appreciated and will give Rushwa orphans a chance for a better future," noted the official. The Gospel concert to be held at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha will bring together talents and choral groups such as Edeni, St. Cecilia, Tumaini, SDA-Kijenge, Bethel, Kwaya Kuu, Muhone Beatrice, New Life Band, Kijenge Lutheran and Chidumule Cosmas.
