New head of ISM Arusha campusBy Our correspondent
Ms Angela Hollington has been appointed new Head of the Arusha Campus of the International School Moshi (ISM) . She is joining ISM from the International School of Geneva where she was the Campus Principal of Prégny-Rigot Primary School. She had also taught at the International School of Zug in Switzerland as well as in Vienna, Belgium, Austria and the UK, for a total of 20 years in education. Ms Hollington brings considerable credentials to the Arusha Campus. She is an IBO PYP trainer (International Baccalaureate Organization: Primary Years Programme), a programme in its second year of implementation at both ISM campuses. "The PYP Curriculum is international, the best of educational practices from different parts of the world and is the primary year curriculum for the IB Organization", she explains. The PYP emphasizes higher levels of skills with students becoming responsible life-long learners. They are encouraged to research, inquire and make connections with previous knowledge, making learning meaningful. As an authorized PYP trainer, she has trained primary school teachers for this curriculum in Moscow, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and has also worked with teachers from Texas A&M University to develop their understanding of international education. Ms Hollington is the co-author of the recently released book ‘Effective Learning Support in International Schools’, a book published for the CIS (Council of International Schools) and sent to over 436 international schools around the world accredited by this body. Ms Hollington is an Early Years Special Education specialist, and has served on the Early Childhood CIS Committee. She was also the chairperson of the Swiss Group of International Schools. British by nationality, she speaks French and German, and has two children in University in the UK.
