Mr. Ebbo strikes yet another funny musical chordby Staff Writer Arusha- born pop crooner, turned rapper, Abel Loshilaa Motika known as Mr. Ebbo, is attempting a comeback with yet another funny single, "Unisamehe" (Forgive me) which runs in the same formula as his debut tongue-in-cheek number, "Mi-Mmasai." (I am a Maasai). The new single is a story of Mr. Ebbo’s friend, who is said to have given up hope and therefore anything he says, no matter how stupid it may get to be, he should be "forgiven." Now this include him wishing that the lights should go off during the Parliament session in Dodoma and all the newspapers in the country to be written in Maasai language. Sung in his usual Maasai intoned, broken Swahili, the single, which is currently receiving mass air play, is done as a dialogue between Ebbo and his alleged Mad friend. Ebbo, who is one of the first ever local youth crooners, having started singing in 1995, had his first success in March 2002 with the release of his debut Maasai intonated rap; "Mi-Mmasai." Previously he used to sing R & B tunes. Both the single "Mi-Mmasai" and his 2002 album, "Fahari Yako" (Your Pride) were huge successes but the Maasai singer’s follow up efforts in the form of the 2003 single "Njaa Inauma" and the album "Bado Kusungumiswa," proved to be drastic. Even his title as the reigning king of singers from Arusha was taken away from him, by the Sekei duo, Mandoko and Domokaya, who still clog the country charts with catchy tunes. Ebbo’s new single, guaranteed to crack the ribs of any person who dares to withstand it, may at least restore the almost forgotten pop star back into the music scene if not shooting him up back to his top of the local pop position. Begging to be forgiven, Ebbo gets away with naughty remarks like, "getting Mount Kilimanjaro to shift base and be at Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam, having the city town buses make trips to Zanzibar across the ocean somehow suggests that, the Maasai should throw away their coveted livestock walk on live electric wires and live in a leaking house. Ebbo (or his friend) would also like the week to have only three days that is, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Apart from the funny bits however, the single also stands out musically, with a very catchy, sing-a-long chorus and beat up track.
