Regional Third Division League starts next Saturday

The Arusha chapter of the Third Division Soccer League is set to start on Saturday the 7th of August at the regional level. .
The assistant secretary general for the regional Football Association in Tanzania (FAT), Gerald Munisi told this paper that the league would field a total of 12 soccer teams from four districts of Arusha region.
Munisi listed the football teams as Viwawa Sports Club, Kibaoni Sports Club and Salaam United Football Club all from Karatu district. Others are Monduli Shooting Stars, Katumbeine FC and Namanga Stars representing the Monduli district, Poli FC, Magereza FC and Usa River Starts coming from the Arumeru district.
Teams from the Arusha municipality have been named as Saint Steven Anglican, General Tyre FC and Mount Meru Shooting Stars.
According to Munisi, the Third Division League is expected to produce the overall soccer champions to represent the region in the zonal levels of the second division league, which will match teams from Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Tanga and Manyara.
Last year’s winning team in the 2003 Third Division League was the Arusha Meat Company. This year trophies will be awarded to the top three winning teams.
All the 12 teams have confirmed their participation in the league whose final match is expected to be played between Sunday the 29th and Monday the 30th of August this year.
