General Tyre nominated for prestigious awardBy our correspondent
General Tyre (EA) Limited stands tall in a parade of companies producing quality products following its recent nomination for an international award for a Golden Medal for Quality and Service. It has been nominated by the International Selection Committee of the Worldwide Marketing Organisation(WMO) in collaboration with the Prestigious Marketing, Communication and Culture Professionals from America and Europe. The Award will be presented on September 18 this year in Santiago, Chile to the Arusha- based company which is 74% government owned. The GTEA Chief Executive, Mr. Deven Lohan has confirmed receiving the invitation, saying the news was yet another 'plus' for the country. "We are indeed honoured and we shall very soon confirm our participation to the award giving ceremony in Santiago", Mr. Deven said. Distinguished personalities, ambassadors, cultural and political leaders, company and business executives and government officials from America, Africa, Europe and Asia will attend the award giving ceremony. The 'Golden Medal for Quality and Service' award is an international recognition granted every year to companies that have achieved an outstanding performance due to the quality of their products and services. This international recognition by the Worldwide Marketing Organisation was created to stimulate the growth of Companies and Professionals that despite the difficulty of the World’s Economic and Financial processes have maintained high levels of quality in their products and professionalism in their services. The tyre company was particularly recognised for its crusade to modernise Tanzania through quality products and services. The company’s unique characteristics, having an American brand name, applying German technology and almost 99.9% Tanzanian workforce, was also singled out for recognition. GTEA is the first tyre manufacturing company in East and Central Africa ever to receive this ward.
