St. James wins East African Youth Soccer TrophyLadies football cup goes to Uganda’s teamby Hamza Kalmera St. James Anglican Parish of Kaloleni , Arusha is not only good at producing chart topping choirs but the church seems also to be a force to reckon with when it comes to soccer. The parish team of CHRISC - Arusha, has emerged the overall winner in the youth soccer bonanza for East Africa held in Moshi during the past two weeks. St. James took the trophy after thrashing the Dar es Salaam based, Right To Play (RTP) team, 4-2 in the final match played at the Police College (CCP) grounds in Moshi. This was for the under 16 youths team category, though on the other hand, both teams came out draw and the game had to be judged by penalty kicks. For the female youths soccer, the trophy went to Uganda after the country representatives, CHRISC - Kampala, beat Mathare Queens of Kenya 1-0 in the over 21 years, young ladies team category. The games were played at CCP, ISM and Memorial grounds of Moshi and a total of 29 teams from Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, which brought together over 800 youths from East Africa region, took part. Other games include the under 21 but above 16 years soccer teams for both boys and girls, with Kenya winning the former and Uganda winning the latter.
