Arusha to host SHIMMUTA games 2004By staff reporter The Executive Committee of the Inter-Parastatal and Non-Parastatal Sports Federation of Tanzania (SHIMMUTA) has scheduled the 34th Annual Sports Bonanza (SHIMMUTA) games to be held in Arusha from 5th to 16th October 2004. Games under competition will include football, netball, darts and tug of war. This was reached during one of the SHIMMUTA’s Executive Committee meetings held in Dar es Salaam recently. A total of 33 teams from Parastatal and non-Parastatal organizations in the country have been invited to participate in the games. These are the Industrial Promotion Products (IPP), Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC), Arusha Meat, General Tyre (EA) Limited, Tanzania-Zambia Railways Authority (TAZARA), National Institute of Transport (NIT), St. James Church, Pallsons, ABB Tanelec, University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), University College of Lands and Architectural Studies (UCLAS), Kagera Sugar Company Limited, Southern Paper Mill (SPM - Mgololo) and Maji Masafi Limited. Others are Mzumbe University, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA Morogoro), Moshi Co-operative College, TRADECO Oil Industries, Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC), SOPA Lodges Limited, Tanzania Poultry Farm (TPF - Arusha branch), Business Printers, Tanga Cement, Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) - Tanga, DOLLY Sisal Estate, Burka Coffee Estate, Tanzania Planting Company (TPC Moshi), Tanzania Tea Packers (TATEPA) and Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA). The federation has also invited teams from the Isles (Zanzibar) which include the Zanzibar State Trading Company (ZSTC), Zanzibar Port, Tembo Hotel and Serena Hotel. Doors are open for other teams which are not in this list but are interested to participate. They are advised to contact the SHIMMUTA’s Secretary General through telephone number 0748 - 334686. Invited teams are requested to confirm their participation on or before 20th August, 2004. SHIMMUTA games were last year held in the same region (Arusha) where TANAPA emerged winners in Football while TRC Tanga clinched the trophy in Netball. St. James Church became champions in Darts.
